The kind of cases handled by us
The following are examples of cases we recently concluded on behalf of our clients:
- We acted for a boy who sustained brain damage following the failure to monitor his temperature after he underwent a cardiac catheterisation procedure. We secured a settlement with a capitalised value of over £4.4 million.
- We acted for child who sustained cerebral palsy at birth after a failure of the medical team to respond promptly to a deterioration in the baby’s condition during labour. A settlement of £2.55 million was achieved.
- We acted for a man who suffered an above knee amputation when a hospital failed to perform vascular surgery appropriately. A settlement £550,000 was acheived.
- We acted for a man who suffered a serious injury to his arm when a hospital failed to diagnose the onset of compartment syndrome in a timely manner and treat the condition with appropriate surgery. We secured a settlement of £200,000.
- We acted for the family of a woman who died after she bled to death following a gynaecological operation. Her family received £200,000.
We also fight hard to try to ensure our clients receive early and effective rehabilitation during the course of their cases. For example, in the landmark ruling of Braithwaite -v- Homerton University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (2008) we secured an £850,000 interim payment for the purchase of a house and to set up a care regime in advance of the final settlement for a client with quadriplegic cerebral palsy that was caused by the mismanagement of her birth.
